Review #137: This is a nice cigar it had a clean crisp spicy kick and the flavor was peppery with a nice firm ash. I smoked this cigar down till my fingers started to burn. What an amazing cigar. Too bad I only had one. Well worth the $$$$. I have a Cohiba Siglo VI that's been sitting in my humi for 2yrs. Review #135: I've had four of these now over the Christmas period. The first was not kept well and this resulted in a really tough smoke, with a draw like trying to suck a ping-pong ball through Germaine Greer's rear end. However, the subsequent 3 have been better cared for and the result is that I think these are the best cigars in the world. Cohiba's are the best and these are the best of the Cohiba range. I am usually a fan of the smaller petit corona size (siglo 2 etc) but this is a big cigar for a big occassion. You'll love this. It evolves beautifully throughout the smoke and lasts the perfect length. I can't 'big these up' these enough. - Submitted by jnoble on January 13, 2008
Review #134:  Purchased only my second box of Esplendidos ever a few months back, as good as they can be, I think I avoid buying them due to the sometimes inflated prices by some dealers...it just kind of turns me off to them, which is a shame as they are such a wonderfully decadent smoke. This box is from mid '05, and though some would say too young, I have to disagree on these. I think they are as good as I've had, and the dealer I got them from sells them everyday for around 525.00. But, I have to say, there are many Churchill Habanos out there that are amazing smokes, and for about half the price, or a bit more, I but them much more often. I just bought two cabs of 50 Bolivar Coronas Gigante, from late '05, and IMHO are sublime. Sorry for the digression, but even though the Esplendido has that comparably prohibitive cost, to me, I believe anybody who is an aficionado of great Habanos should have a box of these in their humidor pretty much all the time. So, I save them for special occasions. SO, this box I recently got is so dang good that I've smoked half the box already, and every single time I trim the perfect cap and toast the perfect foot, it, for some reason becomes more ritualistic to me. The blend has so much going for it, the bean notes are right in front, immediately following the delicious floral notes in the beginning, and though to my taste they are predominantly spicy, they can surprise me with awesome wood tones as well...all perfectly blended with that distinctive Cohiba grassy "tang", as I call it. I have two boxes of H. Upmann Sir Winston's from June of '03, purchased last year, that come as close to perfect as the Esplendido, however...so who knows? I hate to admit it, but I'm sure I WANT the Esplendido to be so good that it may distort my real impressions. I HATE when that happens, lol...and the aforementioned Bolivars, to me, are in the same league for less than half the price. Oh well, these dichotomies are one of the reasons I love this hobby (read; obsession) so much! I just reread this, and it even confused me, lol...I was trying to make a point that with a little shopping around, mixed with a little gleaning from the zillion opinions out there, smokes like the Bolivar are sometimes at least as good as the most expensive and popular name. - Submitted by dlctwice on January 5, 2008

If you purchased a Cohiba Esplendido for $14.00, it's not genuine. Here in Canada, they're priced in the $70-76 range. You may have enjoyed a good cigar, and I hope that's the case, but these things cost a lot more, even in Cuba. - Submitted by W. Merrifield on January 5, 2008
