I just received 2 boxes of these from an oil company worker friend and a box of guantanameras. I really enjoy the guantanameras as a sitting around the campfire with a couple premium pale ales . Cohibas are my sitting around with friends with a nice drink of the Cuban rum i got at the same time. the Esplendido have a distinctive peppery initial draw with an earthy aftertaste with hints of apple. I already have my order in for another 2 boxes and am shopping around for a decent humidor to keep my gems in, so any suggestion to a budding aficiando would be apreciated. - Submitted by Mike Husli on June 4, 2006

I was totally disillusioned when I smoked my first Esplendido. Three fermentations mean they wont get any better? OK then the were the best they will ever be, Try an aged R&J Churchill (tangyier) Try a Hoyo DBLC. Age it Two years or more. See if your pallette doesn't agree. I bought 3 Esplendidos cigars at the Beirut International Airport almost a year ago, kept them all the time in a ‘zip lock’ bag in a dark & dry place, and then recently smoked them during a vacation in Dubai & Oman and I have to admit that it was one of the most delightful smoking experiences I ever had in my entire life. I even managed to convert an anti-smoking friend of mine who tried this little baby and was absolutely in awe! The only drawback is of-course the price (20 US$ a pop at duty-free shop “La Casa Del Habano”) but like they say where I come from: “Quand on aime on compte pas”! - Submitted by jayrusty on May 24, 2006

This is for reviewer #87. I heard you asking if there were a smoke comparable to the Cohiba Esplendido. Try a Davidoff Dom Perignon: it's the exact same size as the esplendido and fifty times better. They are quite pricey (somewhere in the neighborhood of $300)and unfortunately are not made anymore, but if you've got the cash and enjoy esplendidos, try one because it is a life changing experience.
