This Montecristo cigar is something to deal with. Those who prefer this brand, find in this particular model all the virtues from the Cuban brand, and those who do not know it yet, find in this stick the power of the best selling brand in the whole world.

Review #167:  Two years ago I bought a box of Montecristo no.4's - 5 of these cigars were plugged and I have largely steered clear of this brand since then. However, the reputation of the no.2 demanded that I pick one up when I was last re-stocking the humidor. The first half of this cigar was vapid - there was just a touch of coffee and cream. The cigar wasn't plugged but the draw was a little tight. This review was set to be a string of bile until I found some guts in the cigar halfway through. The coffee and cream intensified but there was no real pay off. Montecristo and me seem to have construction problems and I don't think the Monte flavour profile is up my alley. - Submitted by CastroGTX on August 21, 2007
Review #166: Je n'affectionne pas beaucoup les Havanas de Montecristo. Pour le même prix environ, Bolivar Belicosos Finos est un meilleur choix. Mais les ventes de Montecristo (1er et le double du 2ème; Romeo y Julieta) ne sont pas dû simplement à leur réputation. Et comparer Montecristo à un Toyota Camry (Review #147), c'est complètement impudent ! Cette Pirámide Número 2 n'est pas seulement un très bon vendeur, il a une note de 92 attribué par Cigar Aficionado, une des revues et des références mondiales en cigares. (Cohiba Esplendidos = 91). Review #164: Definitely much more flavors than an Edmundo (which I smoked yesterday). Unique flavors, probably best described as strong leather and cedar flavors make it very different from the No. 3s, No. 4s, and No. 5s I typically smoke. Smooth nevertheless; smoked it to 4cm long and it was not overwhelming nor overly intense but with a hint of spice. Review #163: I managed to "forget" one of these in my humidor for 8 months. Yesterday, however, I finally decided that the time was right to introduce it to the flame. First things first - this cigar always draws like a dream. My worry every time I prepare to smoke a Monte#2, however, is that I don't know what to expect. Will this be the real blockbuster it is supposed to be (as the benchmark of all piramides) or will it be "one-dimensional" as occurs much too often? Fellow cigar smokers do not take me wrong, I am not accusing - I am hoping that my comments will serve as constructive criticism. The Cuban cigar industry should realize that there are a handful of smokes that we have become accustomed to consider as the "ambassadors/representatives" of Cuban cigars. One such cigar is the Montecristo #2. I remember reading an article a few years back how they were just rolling these like crazy to keep up with the demand. Well, should I say once again what the result of this is? A huge number of dull, "one-dimensional" sticks in the market. If it were any other cigar, I probably wouldn’t spend a minute thinking about it, not to say sitting to write about it. I am hoping that better days are coming – judging from yesterday’s cigar, I am getting a few hints that this may have started to occur already. Yesterday’s cigar caressed the palate with masses of rich Cuban smoke leaving hints of earth, spice, dark chocolate, and just the right amount of leather accompanied with sweet cedar. Every puff ended with a fresh creamy aftertaste that kept me longing for another draw. It reminded me how a Cuban cigar is supposed to taste like and the romantic affair that should develop between cigar and smoker every time.
