H. Upmann Monarcas Review:
Same taste as H. Upmann Sir Winston. This is a cigar of exceptional quality. As it is from H. Upmann, the tobacco taste is strong and the materials used are first class. That strong tobacco taste is greatly balanced with herbal flavours. As time passes by, this cigar gets better and better.

Review #27: After 8 years of humidifying, (got it two years ago, from friend of mine and it was already 6y old).. I just couldn't resist and I light it up, great smoke, strong, powerfull. But i was slightly disappointed with the burn, which was not so even i would wish to be.

Review #26: I was always a RYJ Churchill in tube kind of man, BUT recently I had some H. Upmann Monarcas in tubes - 2005( forgot which month), dark and oily, it reminds me of a classic early 90's RYJ Churchill. - Submitted by oscarc on December 20, 2007
Review #25:  Cuurently smoking an "03" tube box. The flavor is outstanding, lots of tea and sea salt. I do agree with reviewer #25, in that the Monarca is nowhere comparable to the Sir Winston. Review #24: I would agree that the A/T version is preferable to the dress box. Very nice and full bodied, with a thick earthy taste and a subtle spicy finish. Not quite as refined and balanced as the Sir Winston, but a perfect complement to a hearty/rich meal. These are fantastic with more than 5 years of age. - Submitted by fabio on October 28, 2007
Review #23: This is an interesting one...I totally disagree with the notes at the top that claim this is the same taste as the Sir Winston...this is a totally different old school style Havana smoke, and I'm talking about the ones in the tubes, not the dress box, which again is a different blend and there should be a distinction on this site between the two, otherwise things become very confusing for the novice. Both the A/T's and the dress boxes are "totalmente a mano". I'm not sure why there is a listing on this site for a Monarcas that is machine made because there never was one as far as I am aware...more confusion! Anyway, a good box of A/T's needs plenty of aging...at least 5 years I would say. These can start out a little bland and smokeless for the first few puffs, but they soon open up and start to develop flavour which intensifies toward the end in a progression of increasing richness and piercing strenght in the chocolate and expresso coffee register. Make no mistake though, these are not rough cigars, but well made with quality tobacco. They are not especially complex but designed for men who like the taste of their tobacco in a refined but strong way...excellent after a good meal and designed for people who enjoy cigars, and not for "posing" television executives! leave them in their tubes in a cupboard somewhere cool in your house and dip in to them now and again for a delicious treat. They should have rich dark brown quite rough wrappers that smooth out with age as the oils seep out and metabolise away. If you like the Bolivar corona gigantes, chances are you will like these too.
