H. Upmann Monarchs Review:

Strong tobacco taste and subtle herbal flavours greatly balanced. Very mild and bland when young. If you have the patience, these cigars reveal their extraordinary taste after 20 years of ageing. The minimum ageing recommended is at least 3 years but, as said before, they get better every year. Strength 3/5.

Review #14: MAY 98 Holy crap..the best cigar I've had in a long while! Flavors of flowers, lightly sweetened oolong tea, caramel, and root beer. Slight cinnamon on the retrohale that went on forever....last third just progressed to more intense flavor with never a sharpness or bitterness. Perfect burn with a darker ash and not a hint of run. I used to consider the Sir Winston as the go-to and a great ageing candidate...but this Monarch just left them in the dust. Unfortunately I got this box from Pacific Cigar circa 1998 and am unlikely to find another. If you see these aged beauties, grab them, as they will be at a discount to the varnished Winstons that are fetching big money now. Serious Perfection. - Submitted by bucketlist on October 12, 2017

Review #13: MAY 07 Crazy good cigar... Perfect construction, beautiful flavors from the start to the long finish. 9.5/10 - Submitted by nightdiver on September 12, 2016

Review #12: AUG 98 After seventeen years there's not enough superlatives to describe how well these cigars have aged. Beautifully complex nuanced flavors with velvety smoke on the retrohale. Quite simply outstanding cigars. - Submitted by OLI62 on September 16, 2015

Review #11: APR 00 A very nice cigar. Smooth, clean tobacco taste. But it is quite mild and does not develop much. No match for my 08 Mag 50s. - Submitted by Professor Twain on June 9, 2011

Review #10: MAY 01 I usually say I'm going to take my cigar for a walk but this cigar takes me for a walk. A very rich and creamy cigar with a lovely walnut taste. A glass of tawny port and some walnuts and your in heaven. - Submitted by Richard Rose on November 27, 2008
