Review #23: This is an interesting one...I totally disagree with the notes at the top that claim this is the same taste as the Sir Winston...this is a totally different old school style Havana smoke, and I'm talking about the ones in the tubes, not the dress box, which again is a different blend and there should be a distinction on this site between the two, otherwise things become very confusing for the novice. Both the A/T's and the dress boxes are "totalmente a mano". I'm not sure why there is a listing on this site for a Monarcas that is machine made because there never was one as far as I am aware...more confusion! Anyway, a good box of A/T's needs plenty of aging...at least 5 years I would say. These can start out a little bland and smokeless for the first few puffs, but they soon open up and start to develop flavour which intensifies toward the end in a progression of increasing richness and piercing strenght in the chocolate and expresso coffee register. Make no mistake though, these are not rough cigars, but well made with quality tobacco. They are not especially complex but designed for men who like the taste of their tobacco in a refined but strong way...excellent after a good meal and designed for people who enjoy cigars, and not for "posing" television executives! leave them in their tubes in a cupboard somewhere cool in your house and dip in to them now and again for a delicious treat. They should have rich dark brown quite rough wrappers that smooth out with age as the oils seep out and metabolise away. If you like the Bolivar corona gigantes, chances are you will like these too. - Submitted by Sean Potter on May 20, 2007

Review #22: I must agree with BIGYESTA I also recievied a box of MONARCS from 01.Words can not descibe the pleasure I derived from them. The Rolls Royce of Julietas BRUNO - Submitted by john king on March 30, 2007

Review #21: JUST SMOKED ONE FROM A BOX SLA JAN 01, WHAT A TREAT. THE WRAPPERS DARK CHOCOLATE AND VERY OILY, THEY LOOK AS IF THEY ARE STILL WET, THE TRADEMARK HUPMANN MUSTY WET TASTE IS THE FIRST THING TO HIT YOU, THEN COMES THE ESPRESSO AND COCAO, VANILLBEANS, AND NUTMEG ADD TO THE JOY. THESE ARE THE MOST SATISFYING WHEN THEY HAVE THE MUSTY UPMANN TASTE.THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THAT THE DRAW IS A BIT TIGHT, BUT NOT THAT TIGHT THAT YOU CANT ENJOY IT.AT THE HALFWAY POINT THE MUSTY UPMANN TASTE IS AT THE PEAK, THESE REMIND ME OF THE BOXES OF HUPMANN NUMBER 2's I HAVE IN STOCK, THE NO 2 HAVE THE CLASSIC MUSTY TASTE THAT WE ALL CRAVE, IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE OR TRY THESE FROM O1 PRODUCTION YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. A TRUE 10 IF EVER THERE WAS ONE. - Submitted by BIGYESTA on January 23, 2007

Review #20: I just opened a box of these date code Jun 03, box of 25, in tubes. An awesome smoke! Fantastic flavor, perfect draw, a delicious cigar! - Submitted by rocketman on January 21, 2007

Review #19: Just smoked the first of two I bought at Heathrow on 8th Jan. A damn nice cigar! Typically H.Upmann, excelent draw and a wonderful smoke. The smell when I opened the tube was great, full of promise and upon lighting the aroma was better than expected. The first two draws were boarderline tasteless but after than absolutely no complaints! a magnificent smoke all round... a perfectly even burn giving a great thick white ash, no bitterness until well into the final third. When it did get happen the end was quick changing from delicious to bitter within two draws. I can't fault this one - and based on other comments I can't wait to smoke my Sir Winston later this year!! - Submitted by nicedraw on January 19, 2007
