Review #95: JUN 06 I've smoked very few Robainas in all my time smoking cigars, generally because I have always found them dissapointing. I went to the cigar shop today to select the nicest looking VR they had, and it was a beautifully rolled example with four years on it. This was in honour of Don Alejandro who died on Saturday. Everything about it was fantastic save fr one problem, which is always the problem I find with this mark - plenty of pepper from the thick smoke with delicious flavour...but not enough! The flavour is always overpowered by the pepper and almost menthol-esque after-taste. Gorgeous, subtle and complex notes that are very signature to this mark - woody, hay, liquorice, candied orange peel...fantastic, just too muted and hidden under the pepperyness. A real shame. I also find VR cigars to get quite harsh by the last inch, no-matter what the age. The best of this mark is the Don (double corona), though I will always go for a Lusitanias or aged Hoyo DC instead however. I did enjoy this cigar, and maybe one day I'll find a particular box with a more balanced blend. - Submitted by A. Dyer on April 20, 2010

Review #94: JUL 07 This is one smooth, creamy cigar - at least for the first two thirds. I actually preferred this to the unicos. Roll was a little loose, but that resulted in an even and perfect burn. First two thirds were creamy, buttery, not much else. Last third was grassy and a little harsh - but ill try more when they have done more time in the humidor as these guys have real potential. For the first two thirds I was thinking I had a new favourite - im hoping in time they will be . - Submitted by fuzzylogic on February 14, 2010

Review #93: --- 07 Obtained a few of these a few years ago, when fresh they were perfectly constructed, great draw/burn. However from memory they had a straightforward creamy sweetness that wasn't entirely to my taste - a bit sickly sweet. So I cunningly forgot about them for a couple of years until I pulled one out around christmas. I had no expectations but the Miracle of Age had occurred, the creamy sweetness replaced with a dryer and much more complex combination of teak, darjeeling tea and berry. The construction, of course, had not changed so I was left with a very satisfying, relatively complex, robusto. Sometimes forgetfulness can be a blessing... - Submitted by frenchkiwi on January 26, 2010

Review #91: Perfectly constructed, slightly sweet smelling cigar with a smooth draw and an even burn. First half is slightly bitter and develops a sweeter taste as the cigar warms. Not as strong as Cohiba Robusto or Monte Edmundo. A perfect cigar for a chilled out afternoon or evening with some great company who enjoy cigars just as much as you do. I was lucky enough to have a great friend who offered one of these cigars to me to sample. A delightful cigar to say the least. 8.5 in my books. - Submitted by Skittles740 on November 10, 2009
