--- 98 Smoked the first one...The experince lasted almost 3 hours...the first half was sublime,sweet,herbal ,refined.The draw,burn and taste were perfect.The second half had some burn problems and its strength amplified,but still a very easy cigar to smoke despite its size. - Submitted by kamaz on January 23, 2013

OCT 98 1998 What a cigar - as the Gentleman stated in the previous review it needs long time before all the flavors shine - the 98s are still developing, IMHO, so patience, patience... Salt, wood, with that hint of sweetness and consistency of flavors throughout the smoking time (close to three hours). NOV 98 Good morning. Καπνίζω ένα μπαρουτοκαπνισμένο και μαυριδερό από μια κούτα του μακρινού 98. Στιλπνό και λείο, σχεδόν μουσειακό κομμάτι πρότυπης κατασκευής, καλοτυλιγμένο, ευκολοτράβηχτο και ζουμερό. Στην αρχή το συνόδευσα με ένα πολύ αραιωμένο Glengoyne 14άρι του λίτρου, που μετά, όσο προχωρούσε το κάψιμο, το έκανα πιο σκληρό. Βαθύ, υπόγειο πούρο, έντονα γήινο και γλυκό, με αρώματα και γεύσεις που παραπέμπουν στην παλιά κουβανέζικη σχολή. Λίγο άξεστο και με γωνίες, αλλά με προσωπικότητα και στυλ. Μετά το πρώτο 3ο, εκεί δηλαδή που γίνεται corona gigante, κατασταλάζει και δίνει υπέροχες φούμες και αρώματα, που απέχουν πολύ από τα αντίστοιχα του συρμού της τωρινής παραγωγής. Κάτι διαφορετικό και αλλιώτικο, που θυμίζει πώς ήταν τα πούρα μιας άλλης εποχής. Όχι, δεν είναι το vintage που κάνει αυτή την gran corona τόσο διαφορετική και θεσπέσια. Είναι μάλλον το πνεύμα μιας διαφορετικής αντίληψης της παραγωγής και το άρωμα ενός άλλου καιρού, που από ό,τι φαίνεται, έφυγε ανεπιστρεπτί. Κι όσο καταπίνω και ρουφάω και ερωτεύομαι αυτόν το γίγαντα, τόσο μου φαίνεται η απόσταση πιο μεγάλη από το σήμερα και κλείνω ερμητικά την κούτα, πιέζοντας το καρφί μέχρι τέρμα. Όχι για να περιορίσω, να κλείσω μέσα αυτήν την πανθομολογούμενη και τρισαπαίσια βαρβατίλα, (έτσι μυρίζουνε μωρό μου), αλλά τουναντίον, να φυλακίσω και να διαφυλάξω όλα τα αρώματα και τις μυρουδιές αυτής της μακρινής εποχής, μέχρι να ξυπνήσω τον επόμενο. Αυτός ο γίγαντας θέλει προσπάθεια να τον κατακτήσεις, αλλά αξίζει τον κόπο. Η κορυφή του, αν και δυσπρόσιτη, είναι θεσπέσια. - Submitted by cipu on October 19, 2010

Review #22:

Extremely vegetal start. Hints of celery, parsley, and cilantro. Very different to start with, however, the vegetal flavours soon give way to woody flavours where the cigar seems to take on an identity. The flavours are very different for Sancho Panza, and very different from a lot of other Cubans I've smoked. A very mild cigar with mild-medium flavours. I enjoyed the finish much more than the start. The cigar did grow in strength to the end. The draw was a little tight to begin with but became more acceptable by the mid-mark. I'm not sure that I'd recommend this cigar preferring instead to recommend the much better Montecristo A for this size of cigar. A very average smoke for a cigar that should provide so much more. - Submitted by cookj1 on April 6, 2009
