Montecristo Robusto LE 2006 Review:

This is a re-edition of the Limited Edition of 2001. The Montecrsito Robusto start out medium and turned full with about 1/3 left. Its flavour has Medium-full shades of wood and both sweet and peppery spices. Very long finish with a serious dose of pepper and a nice balance of sweet spices and roasted nuts

Review #26: MAR 06 Much of the criticism of this cigar reminds me of that which was pointed at the 2003 LE Montecristo 'C'. Both cigars were pretty muted on release but the 'C' is now one of my all time favourite cigars. It seems that most Monte's benefit from a reasonable period of ageing before some of the more secondary complex flavours develop. I bought a box of these robustos and have decided to stop half way through and not touch them for another year or two. It's not that any of them have been unpleasant. I've found them to be mellow, creamy and mouth filling with subtle flavours but I suspect that they will get much much better with age. - Submitted by Kieron McCann on June 11, 2009

Review #25: After smoking a half dozen of Robustos purchased as singles from the same box I was expecting that after two years this cigar will show her true colors. Wrapper on this one was rather dry but veinless and smooth. Construction was firm and at first draw was a bit tight but after first centimeter became perfect. From start till end remained in the same path with earthy flavor mixed with the woody background. It was rather relaxing, not too demanding cigar, where leather flavor at the end made smoking a bit more interesting (great combination with Illy espresso). Complexity is not her stronger side but definitely it’s not one dimensional cigar. This Robusto shows great improvement over a year. Not so much in terms of aged tobacco as in level of balance. IMO this cigar is at her prime right now and will not gain much with extended aging because tobacco is already well matured. - Submitted by Diademo on June 19, 2008

Review #24: This is one of my favourites cigars. Sweet, nutty, medium flowers taste and well balanced flavor. Montecristo taste tobacco. I love it! - Submitted by cenobita on April 20, 2008

Review #23: Beautiful robusto. Nice ash, nice draw. The flavor is first very elegant and pretty mild. Having sweet and earthy character with hint of capuccino. At the second half the flavor is getting more powerful having aromas like spicynes and pine. Not "very Montecristo taste" but it is something new and kind of refreshing. I would recommend this. - Submitted by TonyMontana on April 16, 2008

Review #22: It's not a bad cigar, but the taste was quite average. The taste would be best described as leathery and bitter. It doesn't compare to the neither of the Montecristo Especiales but yet, costs more. If you want to try this I would probably buy 3 as a test, not the full 25. - Submitted by ddforza on March 16, 2008
