Montecristo Montecristo No. 3 Review:

The taste of numbers 1, 3 and 4 is quite the same, coffee, cocoa and vanilla flavours blended in great harmony with a medium tobacco taste. A minimum ageing of at least three years is recommended for this cigar to find its real potential.

Review #79: New to cigars, less than one year, and am partial to mild-medium cigars in the Corona size. I have been smoking Dominican and Nicaragua cigars made with filler tobacco from the various Latin American countries. On a recent trans-atlantic cruise, I purchased five different 'brands' of Cuban cigars at Chatham House in Bermuda, Stagnetto Ltd. in Gibraltar and El Corte Inglés in Barcelona. After 6-months in a humidor I have begun to try them with a Montecristo No. 3 from Barcelona, at €9.40, being one of them. For comparison, in the morning, I smoked a Montecristo No. 3 made in the Dominican Republic and in the afternoon a Cuban made No. 3. The Cuban cigar had a lighter caramel color wrapper and caramel color label saying Habana. It is not readily apparent but the Dominican is a 44 ring size while a Cuban is 42. Both cigars were "punched" rather than cut. The Cuban Montecristo No. 3 was a tighter draw medium strength with good ash/burn and a noticeable pepper flavor for the first third then spicy for the remaining 60 minutes. The strength of both cigars was comparable, the Cuban a really spicy flavor and I would have to say that for this session, I preferred the Dominican. The other Cuban cigars that I have tried, Bolivar No. 1 Tubos and Punch Coronations Tubos, had a deeper-richer-bolder longer lasting woody/earthy flavor. I will "cut" the end of the other No. 3 that I have and follow-up. Yet to be evaluated are H. Upmann Coronas Major Tubos, Romeo y Julieta Romeo No. 2 Tubos, Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs, Montecristo Petit Tubos and Montecristo No. 4. - Submitted by Douglas B on October 19, 2016

Review #78: Nice, but not outstanding. Well balanced, good flavours but lacks some body. Overall a nice afternoon cigar. - Submitted by joaozinho30 on June 24, 2015

Review #77: JUN 14 Good cigar. Mild to medium in body, with a good combination of sweet spices and woody flavour. Lack the beany/toasty notes of the no. 4 and much more subtle but very satisfying smoke. - Submitted by titobueno76 on February 7, 2015

Review #76: Good draw with a bit of resistance. Starts off mainly spicy and peppery. Settles into a creamy with notes of mainly vanilla and cocae. - Submitted by Setone on December 1, 2012

Review #75: Nice aroma, moderate taste good for an outdoor smoke - Submitted by Khaleelterro on March 4, 2012
