Review #355: APR 17 I've not tried many Monte 2s for some years now as the sheer amount of very average to poorly rolled and badly blended examples I've had in the recent past has been awful. I've been finding most Havanas have massively improved in the last few years though and saw some gorgeous looking examples at my local shop so I picked one to try in the lounge. Light, velvety wrapper with just a slight oily sheen, gorgeous construction and feel and a lovely aroma. Almost perfect draw though maybe a tiny bit easy, but smoked great and burned very evenly. Started very mild and subtle - some cream, light coffee bean and woodiness. It built through the first half developing some more herbal and buttery notes and moved into a more medium body in the second half where the coffee and cream got richer with some hints of almond and buttery biscuit flavour. Smoked right to the fingertips. A beautiful Montecristo. Like all Havana cigars in particular, it's vital to learn how to select the good ones. If the wrapper looks good that can be a decent indication that the rest of the tobacco in the blend is of high quality - the aroma should be rich and enticing and the cigar should feel even down the entire length with no hard spots. A good Monte 2 is a really lovely cigar and generally not too strong with some nice subtlety and creaminess. A bad Monte 2 can be awful and even unsmokeable. Unfortunately Montecristo seems to be one of if not the worst Brand for huge variation in quality due to massive overproduction. - Submitted by A. Dyer on April 8, 2019

Review #354: OCT 14 The Famous Montecristo No.2 Box Date OCT 14. Verified by Habanos S.A. I have no doubt that this was a great Piramide for many years and might be again. It did not meet expectations however. First it was a mild-medium smoke. The draw was too firm so i made some extra cuts to get it drawing better. The construction was fairly consistent although some blemishes and wrapper colors were not matched throughout box. The burn was OK with some corrections. The ash was beautiful whitish grey. And all that doesn't really matter much. It was the flavor that was disappointing. A fairly mild smoke with very subtle hints of cocoa and nuts maybe. Not much spice. Last 1/3 was bitter. I had this in morning on empty stomach and had no influence form the nicotine. So mild in strength as well. I felt like Steve McQueen at the end of that great movie The Sand Pebbles, as he shouts "What The Hell Happened" in disbelief. I only have 24 sticks to go so i will update this review if anything improves. - Submitted by Diver369 on March 25, 2019

Review #353: ---   This is truly a cigar amongst cigars! Fired one up on Father’s Day easy light and the initial taste of leathery woody flavour hit the spot. Good even burn throughout the 1hr 20 mins Cedar and nutty flavours amazing. My 5th monty 2 and my favourite!! Get some!! - Submitted by BigI on June 19, 2018

Review #352: JUN 14 Used to be a #1 cigar for me, but quality, and taste has gone considerably downhill. Still a fair smoke, no doubt. All my post 2006 boxes have been disappointing. Old score 8.5, 2006 until today, a 5. - Submitted by mcwhmv on February 22, 2018

Review #351: SEP 13 Classic montecristo. Excellent vintage year for this brand; aged very well. Classic Montecristo flavors of wood, cedar, earth, nuts, and spice. It has more legs to go. I can't wait to see how it developes in couple more years. - Submitted by Cubano-1 on August 5, 2017
