Review #159: MAR 07 I loved these cigars in the early days of their release, and they can still be that great from time to time, but, as has been mentioned in a number of reviews, consistency in roll quality has plummeted. I've smoked a number from 07 lately and most have been really badly rolled. Very loose resulting in a poor, hot burn ruining any flavour there. Others, sometimes from the same batch(!), have been excellent. The difference was so great that I even wondered if the blend was the same. No, not fakes, I know my cigars and my supplier, just really poor quality control. - Submitted by A. Dyer on May 13, 2010

Review #158: ---   I used to love these little guys however the last box I purchased must have been rolled by a 6 y.o. child. Terrible construction resulting in poor, uneven burn for all sticks. The draw was akin to sucking through a straw... far too loose. To add insult to injury, the wrappers all had large veins giving a unsightly appearance to what should have been delightful smokes. - Submitted by rainman on April 30, 2010

Review #157: ---   Really great cigar!! Short and fat boy, that can deliver lots of pleasure for a short time (love the shape). It has really smooth sweety taste with hint of chocolate and produces nice looking dense smoke. Burn was razorsharp and even, so you can get attention only to a perfect enjoyment. If it's properly aged, it's one of the best cigars! - Submitted by Ignifaxius on February 11, 2010

Review #156: ---   This little cigar looks great and the format seems like a good idea for a short smoke. I have smoked a number of these from different sources. I preferred it to the only other Petit Robusto (Partagas D5) which has very inconsistent construction. IMHO the length is too short to be of much use - I'd rather take the first half of a Montecristo Petit Edmundo and discard the rest. In particular the draw is too light so the burn is too fast and hot. The other issue is that I've never tried one which is ready (ie 3+ years old for Hoyo) and cigars that need years more ageing after purchase are just no use to me. The first third was full of harsh volatiles, the second third was better with some leather coming through but this phase was short lived as the smoke quickly became too hot and sooty. This cigar would be lovely with plenty of age and in the hands of a very slow smoker. In other words, a long smoke in disguise! - Submitted by john_larwood on December 27, 2009

Review #155: ---   Dog sitting for the week, and today we got some great fall weather. Took advantage, grabbed the dog and this smoke. Bought a single and not sure of the age. This is the first PR I've tried, and really enjoyed it. Construction and burn were first rate. The cigar developed throughout the smoke, and was well balanced. Started off with a toasty flavour with nice spicy, peppery tones. Mellowed out in the 2/3 and the spices subsided, with some (perhaps) nutmeg present. The final 1/3 was smooth and silky, with what appeared to be a floral taste. Finished superbly with the reappearance of spice. A great 40 minutes of smoking pleasure. I'm sure it would have went down even better sitting back relaxing with a drink. A solid 82/100 - Submitted by bmynn on November 2, 2009
