Review #98: Bought three of the 898s from a 10 count box dated 09 at my local B&M store. In selecting these three cigars I had to go through two boxes of 898 because a lot of cigars showed signs of underfilling. My experience with lonsdale and dalia format has been very negative in terms of the construction because the draw is usually quite firm or completely plugged, atleast that was the case so far, thus ruining the enjoyment of a fine smoke. Before entering the shop I had planned to buy a full 10 ct box but after seeing soo many underfilled cigars and to that extent, even worse than some of the PSD4 I have had before, I decided to buy only three that managed to pass the tactile test. The draw on all three cigars was too loose while the burn was straight but too fast(as a result of the aforementioned underfilling). Average smoking time was about 70 minutes per cigar which is what a minuto format normally lasts me. Now none of these negative elements would bother me if the cigars performed in the flavor department but alas they only showed a not too pleasant tobbaco notes and nothing more, not even a little spice or some earthy notes. Strenght of the smoke was in the medium-full range. Based on this I guess you cannot complain about consistency here because all three of them performed exactly the same way.//. The Partagas 898 varnished gave me nothing in return for the price of 22 USD per stick and at that price point I expect something special rather than a below average smoke. - Submitted by promajk on November 3, 2011

JUN 08 Cigar had woody and earthy flavour, spices pepprery taste, maybe a bit coffe beans? My are milder now, sometimes tight rolled. Very well spent time with this cigar. 8,5/10 - Submitted by kml on September 26, 2011

APR 09 This cigar is a beautiful example of Partagas flavors and complexity. It is a little less refined than the Lusitania, but you get the Christmas spices, the cocoa, vanilla, pepper, tea, and musty earth. This cigar is a must have for any Cuban smoker. - Submitted by astripp on August 6, 2011

The best full bodied cigar Habanos has to offer. Straight from the beginning you will get a pleasant knock out of power, rich aroma and great smoke. Just have your stomach full before enjoying this lonsdale and simply relax... --- 08 Rich pepper, bit of horse saddle and delicious cedar. Medium strength and a touch of orange came out in the middle. I have smoked 4 out of my first box, and have 2 more sealed up in the back of my humi. highland park 12 with this one. Finished off with Cuban coffee.
