Review #44: The Montecristo Sublimes LE 2008 is the answer to anyone who asks why you smoke cigars. This is the quintessence of what a Cuban cigar can be: an impressive vitola, perfectly constructed that when lit provides one of the richest and most complex smoking experiences of the last ten years. Initial flavours of coffee and chocolate resolve to a creaminess that lasts well into the final third and is balanced throughout by building hints of fruit. I found less of the typical Montecristo pepperiness than I expected, which came as a pleasant surprise; this is a far more subtle smoke than most current Montecristo offerings. It scares me to think that if it smokes like this now, what will it be like after a few years of proper aging? This is a modern classic, which cannot be recommended highly enough. - Submitted by sunsolid on March 25, 2009

Review #43: to reviewer 40 .... it seems unlikely that the 10th sublime was the same size as a fundadore so they may well be fakes. Unless the remaining 9 have swelled up considerably due to overhumidification !!! a possibility but probably unlikely in my opinion ..... the proof will be in the smoking! by smoking one you will be able to assess if they are genuine ..... also closely compare the bands of the new 9 with the 1 u have left from before. 1. what was the code on the underside of box? (even if the box is original, it doesnt mean the cigars are ...) 2. have u tried going back to the vendor to ask him why it could not contain 10? (even if he cannot refund yr money, his reaction will give u an idea if they are fakes)! 3. always buy from trusted sources .... start with lower value sticks in case they turn out to be 'duds', and also ask their refund policy ... once credibility is established u can buy 'blind' on trust and their recommendation! good luck and happy smoking. - Submitted by Gobind on March 10, 2009

Review #42: I smoked one of these recently in Cuba, purchased at a La Casa del Habanos, and I have to say I wasn't all that impressed. The first two inches were excellent, and then it turned in to nothing more than an average (but still good) cigar. For an average price, I'd say this cigar would be an 8 or possibly a 9, but with the additional price, I can't give it above a 7. - Submitted by agraupe on March 8, 2009

Review #40: hay guys...can you give your opinion on this. so I know this cigar store in Vancouver, I don't buy much from him but sometimes hes got some stuff others might not. So I find a box of the sublimes at his place, it was the last one and it had 9 pieces left. So I say "how much is it?" and he says "its 487$ but I'll give you a special price on it" mind you...Cuban cigars in Canada are extremely expensive so that number up there is quite reasonable. So he gets a calculator and says "375$"...I was like wow...this is a first in my entire quest for cigar, in Vancouver speaking, no one has ever given a discount like that. So I buy it, go back home, open the box and then something begins to smell fishy. The box had only 9 cigars left and this is a 10 box-capacity cigar...but it seemed like it was only designed for 9 Montecristo Sublimes and a Trinidad Fundadore. So I go to my humidor, I remember I have one sublime left over from 2 that I bought a couple of weeks later, and try to fit it in the box that I just bought, and...it did not fit!! Did I buy fake cigars or what the hell is going around here? The box seems to have all authentic stamps and stickers or whatever. But it did not have that peace of paper inside it cause it was, you know, a display...it was opened when you go to the store. plz can anyone just give me some advise here, thank you. - Submitted by hexakosioi on March 2, 2009
