In fact Cohiba Lanceros (not the one the consumer can buy) is offered by Castro himself to diplomates. The Trinidad Laguito No 1 ring 38 192mm long , so not the fundadores, is the gift to diplomates from the Cuban Government (not Castro himself). These Trinidads are specially manufactured for the Cuban goverment and not for sale. For details see Min Ron Nee his book.

Review #61: A common myth which is false is that Trinidad cigars were gifted to foreign Dipolomats by Castro. There was an interview with Fidel in which he in fact stated that he didn't even know much about the brand and said he only ever gave Cohiba cigars as gifts and that Cohiba was his sole favourite brand (mainly favouring the Lanceros of course)until he gave up smoking. The Reyes is a pleasant smoke with an interesting woodsy flavour with some burnt caramel and pine notes; a bit more power than the Coloniales or Robustos Extra (which do have some interesting flavours, but they are so subtle and generally bland that I do not care for them myself), but still highly over-priced. If you have the money to spend on them and really enjoy their flavour then that's fair enough, but for me I'd much rather buy Hoyo Petit Robustos for example. Review #60: Je ne comprends pas pourquoi ces Trinidad sont aussi bien cotées. Ils sont légendaire dû au Grand Fidel Castro et pour leur Fabrique tout aussi glorieuse de El Laguito. Cependant, ils ne peuvent pas se comparer à leur grand frère, les Cohiba. Tout comme les Coloniales, ces Reyes sont agréables à fumer. Un bon cigare matinal, mais sans plus. Review #59: It's always a pleasure when a cigar burns smooth and even with a perfect draw. This is the case. The taste is creamy, complex and balanced: notes of cedar in the first third, together with a small amount of honey sweetness evolve in a stronger woody flavour in the middle, always rich and elegant.The final is very long, you will smoke this stick to the last inch without any bitter or sour taste. Review #58: After having enjoyed these little gems over the last year, I can say without qualms that they are an incredibly enjoyable and consistent smoke. The flavours are subtley rich, creamy and complex, with no false notes or bitterness. I would highly recommend these to anyone with a discerning palate. Like the Cohibas, they are rolled in the El Laguito factory and are triple fermented with the same care. This is an absolutely exquisite cigar - the favourite of the Director of altadis who distribute Trinidad worldwide.
