Review #18: Purchased my first No.1 from Alexanders in Melbourne last Friday. Opened the tube at a local bar friday night and was surprised by the quality of the stick within (have heard that some tubos are not always great quality, but R/J has never let me down in the No.2s or 3s). Unlit, the stick smelt sweet & quite fresh and herbal. After lighting (no problems), was stunned at the tight draw. In fact, it was the tightest draw of any R/J I have ever experienced. A colleague informed me that unless the tube says \"deluxe\" the sticks are machine-made and this definately did not say that so am not sure. Characteristic cut-grass, herbal flavours straight up but had to suck like crazy to experience. Relit twice in the first hour but it wasn\'t until then that she opened up and i got the classic R/J easy draw and voluminous smoke clouds. By now she was well and truly going and the taste became much more aniseed and leather with a double-cream finish. Despite the initial plug, I really enjoyed the second half of this great value for money cig. Was sipping neat Chivas all the way with some water on the side. Can recommend this to anyone but would like clarification on the \"deluxe\" vs machine & hand made issue though. - Submitted by Uncle on April 18, 2005

Review #17: Meh. A bland and one dimmensional cigar. Fortunately, there were no construction flaws in this one. It is overpriced and can't even begin to compete with non cubans (i.e. A. Fuente Gran Reserva corona) in its price class. - Submitted by Stacks Overflow on February 2, 2005

Review #16: My first sigar. I think is simply fantastic. I love it. - Submitted by andrea on January 20, 2005

Review #15: I agree completely with previous reviewers: definitely a nice no-nonsense cigar. I tried a few from different batches and they all had quite the same (mellow- earthy- and leathery-) taste and a (very) easy draw. Seems to age well inside its aluminium tube in the humidor. Good value for the money spend. - Submitted by chris W on January 11, 2005

Review #14: A very good cigar for the price. The wrapper is smooth, a bit oily. I ve bought a box from Spain, JUL02, the cigars seem to be maturing inside their tubes, if placed in the humidor. Before lit, the cigar gives an earthy, grassy taste. Lights well, the draw is smooth, almost perfect. The ass is firm, and never needed to relight it. The first third gives a smooth, pleasant cocoa taste. The second third transforms this cigar into a real powerhouse, with nice spice, leather and earth tones. The last third was pleasant too, spicy, leathery. I didnt want to put it out. An excellent medium range cigar. Highly recommended for the inexperienced, new Cuban smoker. - Submitted by Dimitris in Athens - Greece on November 27, 2004
