Review #16: #15 Hercule - noted & well said. Of course it is stated on RG boxes one month or one year - it is also technically correct, due to what happens to a newly made cigar during maturation - and more importantly its what works for me. Naturally I have also smoked some well aged stuff over the years - some unbeatable and some unsmokable - same as with fairly new cigars. Nevertheless I would vehemently suggest that most recent boxes I have bought have been much better in consistency and quality than those of even just 2 years ago. Like rallones I also enjoy your reviews, sometimes I just get out of bed the wrongside. Keep well and enjoy regards Ian - Submitted by ian on July 11, 2008

Review #15: We might all calm down a bit here, please! Rallones, I appreciate your plea, but also see Jan's point. That one month/ one year thesis is somewhat flawed - it is either quoted from the back of RG boxes, or Jan is a "Spanish Veteran Smoker". He has pointed this out on the Montecristo Millenium Jar Robustos, and if he likes his cigars that way, who are we to tell him stuff? To everybody what he likes! I love cigars with a decent maturity (at least two years of age for me, personally, the more, the better), and Havannas undoubtedly have the potential to improve with age. I understand the point abouth individual storing etc. That is why I do not give scores too often. I do not have problems to find older smokes, either through friends, or some vendors who even have some remaining stock from the early '90s. I just want to give my impressions on some sticks, which is completely individual. But thanks again for the reinforcement, now let's get down to business again! - Submitted by Hercule Poirot on July 10, 2008

Review #14: FEB 00 Thank you for your thoughts Rallones review #13, I am happy to find you are so protective of a fellow brother. My opinions are self stated and perhaps thats why many don't agree. I always keep an open mind, my thoughts are just those of smoking 5 a day for 25 years of most available Havanas. In a previous review on the MCRM it was suggested by your mate that I have been wasting my time and money by smoking cigars without aging for years. - thing is this is how i enjoy them and its my time and money no one elses. Note: there is no "hate" in me dont be so sad go have a puff.... - Submitted by ian on July 9, 2008

Review #13: Reviewer #12 -- ian -- you have no idea what you're talking about. Saying havanas will "peak after twelve months" is something you obvioulsy read somewhere and are regurgitating here now. Hercule's reviews are VERY informative and enjoyable to read. Moreover, aged cigars (i.e., 6-9 years old) can be found without too much difficulty. Whether the vendor has stored them properly is a separate question. Bottom line, just because hercule has access to aged smokes, and shares his thoughts on them, is no reason for you to "hate" on him. - Submitted by rallones on July 9, 2008

Review #12: JAN 00 I keep reading reviews by Hercule Poirot which in every instance refers to well aged cigar tastings with no score. Contrary to what he claims is a general consensus, Havanas are made to be smoked either immediately (within the 1st month) alternatively they will be peaking after 12 months. Admittedly there may be a few smokers who specialise in aged havanas but generally people who look here are interested in reviews on readily available stuff. More importantly an aged Havana review is only relevent to that particular cigar and not of any use to anyone as over the course of several years all cigars behave individually, with too many variables to mention. SO KEEP IT REAL PLEASE PS. So happens your tasting notes in review #11 are good. - Submitted by ian on July 8, 2008
