Review #60: I have nearly finished a cab of 50 ABR 07s. Since my last review for this cigar in August, the taste has changed dramatically from a little harsh to very smooth and has lost a bit of the caramel undertones to one of more aged tobacco. A very good looking cigar with probably the most 'sexy' gold band on the market. Review #57: One of the reasons I love this cigar so much is one of the reasons the author of reveiw #42 didn't like it, lol, (the only negative, too). When a cigar comes only in the "cabinet seleccion 1/2 wheels. it always means the batch will be great.And, please, I by no means am trying to make any criticism, just that. when someone is able to get any Habanos in a "cabinet selection" of fifty, they usually end up reallt going themselves a favor, truly! When you open up a half-whell, just from looking at the shape the cigars are bundled in, vs. slightly box presseddress boxes of 25, you can tell which packaging method is going to receive the most air circulation, just sitting on your dealet's shelf and in your hunidor they always have a big head start on the aging process than those packed in 25's. They, of course, cost a little more, (lemme rhink...50% more> lol...) and sometimes cost a few bucks mofe than if you were to buy 2 boxes of 25, but the factories seem to be very strict with the QC on cabs of 50. I would think it's a helluva lot harder to do a GREAT color-match on the wrappers of 50 cigars than it is 25.
Sorry for the long length, and I really aren't trying to get you to buy in cabinets, but I would be very surprised if you weren't quite happy! Some cigars that are truly better in the cab format, (IMHO)...Punch-Punch and Punch Double Coronas, Partagas Shorts and Partagas Lusitanias, (unreal) and Bolivar has several of their vitola in cab, they have a "cab" of 25 Belicosos Finos that are night/day better than the dress box version, plus two of my top 5 cigars, the Bolivar Petit Corona and The Coronas Gigantes (their churchill)...This is an unbelievable cigar! I have a cab that is less than a year old, and I have a harder time staying away from them than I do Cohiba Esplendidos, I swear.
Anyway, this cigar was SO hartd to find for many years, they just didn't make many, I guess, and I (for one of MANY) are very happy to see them in stock almost all the time. ***also, tell me those big sqzre cedar boxes don't look totally cool in your hunidir, lol! Stick a cou[le cabs of Double Coronas in there, you can use them for the foundation on your new home, lol - Submitted by dlctwice on October 14, 2007
