Review #14: The first thing you will notice is the dark oily wrapper, that foretells what is to come. This is one Kick Ass Cigar. A joy to look at, a joy to rool on your fingers, and to smoke it is to want another. If I had to choose only one Cigar to smoke the rest of my life, this would be it. Bury me with one between my lips - Submitted by ereper on June 28, 2004
Review #13: I agree with Gavin - loose them in the humidor for a few years. The first few I had were young but excellent, like eating a stick of tasty, smooth but rich chocolate. Now they seem to be sleeping and that great flavor has diminished indicating they need to rest. I compare these a little bit to an H. Upmann No. 2 in flavor - deep, rich yet smooth. Here's a stick to pair with a great Cabernet! The first few I had, even though young, were possibly the finest of the LE cigars. - Submitted by Kid Charlemagne on May 28, 2004
Review #12: The typical deep, dark oily LE maduro wrapper. Construction is perfect visually and the draw is even and more than adequate in view of the strength of the blend. Unlike others, I have not experienced any tight or plugged examples, although I admittedly have only sampled a few sticks out of the two boxes of these I have on hand -- mostly because I believe it is a shame to smoke them now rather than give them a few more years to settle down. As for those who assert the cigar has "no character," I can only wonder what these folks were smoking, because it certainly was not this cigar. This is quite simply a powerhouse. Finesse admittedly is not its strong suit, but "character" it has in spades. If you are looking for a rich, extremely earthy, leathery cigar with a flavor profile that veers into the black tar / French roast coffee end of the spectrum, this is the fellow. Do not attempt this one early in the day or on an empty stomach. It will literally make your head spin. However, given the substance this model displays, I predict it will develop much more complexity over time and will be more completely "housebroken" after a few additional years in the box. I'd compare it to a young bottle of good Rhone red, Vieux Telegraphe '98 perhaps. In fact, I could see pairing this cigar with the VT '98 at the end of a meal in 2008. Just give them both time to resolve! - Submitted by chambolle on May 12, 2004
Review #11: A great cigar. If you can 'lose' a few in your humidor you will be rewarded. I'm currently finding it hard to keep my hands off them. - Submitted by Gavin on March 27, 2004
Review #10: Although I am new to cigar smoking I have tried many, many different types. This undoubtly has been the best by far. Deep robust flavor and made smokes wonderful. - Submitted by Richie C on March 9, 2004
