Review #8: Elegant, smooth, consistent, lite, tasteful, tangy with a little touch of spice, roasted wood. Not as much gusto as the Lancero, a great day-time version of the Fundadores... perfect for chilling by a cafe enjoying the art of doing absolutely nothing... - Submitted by hendrik on January 30, 2007

Review #7: Propably the best cigar from Havana, pleasure to look elegand to hold and strong as an ox.Excellent pre lit aroma.Rich, creamy, spicy, woody, piquant, nutty flavours. From the very first draws delivers powerful presence.A cigar that blow me away every single time.A must in my humidor. - Submitted by giorgos on October 23, 2006

Review #6: I agree with shrink that this baby is not a robust type, but a classic style similiar to Cohiba Lancero. Since it is a small ring gauge (39), patience in drawing is a must to fully enjoy this violta. It never fail me. - Submitted by Derek.C. on October 12, 2006

Review #5: Che - Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this vitola. However, if I understand your review correctly, it was based on just one cigar. Im my opinion, a fair assessment requires more than a few examples, preferably from several boxes and/or boxcodes. My experience with the Monte Especial No. 1 has been excellent. While it isn't a robust, in-your-face smoke like a Bolivar, or even recent examples of the re-incarnated Monte No. 2, it wasn't meant to be. I've been smoking from a box of '97s, and they are a sophisticated, medium-bodied cigar with rich flavors of toasted tobacco, bittersweet spices, and a lingering, mouth-watering tang that for me defines a great Montecristo. Arguably the most complex of all Montecristo vitolas, for me it is a wonderful and satisfying way to spend an hour and a half when the day's work is done, and it's time to kick back and relax. - Submitted by shrink on October 11, 2006

Review #4: I've never really got into Montecristo's, and I don't think i'll likely to after this. A nightmare. Everything I did was right, the cigar just wasn't having it. The paper broke apart, probably due to its age. I was smoking thi in a trendy bar in Manchester at the time and it was quite embarassing. Tasted good but the enjoyment factor wasn't there. Personally, i'd call it a waste of money when you can go for a Bolivar or Cohiba or even H. Upmann. Don't be attracted by the name, because you'll be disappointed!!! Vive Che! - Submitted by El Che on October 10, 2006
