Montecristo Montecristo D LE 2005 Review:

The best-known of all Habanos brands now introduces this splendid 8-9-8-style case comprising 10 units (3-4-3) of Montecristo D. Its dimensions (43 ring gauge and 170 mm long) are equivalent to the factory name Dalia so smokers can be able to feel the natural character of Montecristo, a brand that has proven to be an all-times success.

Review #21: This was a really strange experience... I smoked this cigar a couple hours after learning after Michael Jackson's death... I've never had to suck so hard on a cigar to get some flavor....the first 3rd of the cigar, forgetaboutit...not the slightest tickle on my tongue....which was frustrating because it smelled superb.... I only started tasting something towards the end, the last bit...and to get the taste that would take one puff on a good cigar, I'd have to take 5 draws...and still nothing major...It was like the volume was on one...really strange....I'd like to think I got a dud... - Submitted by hellion5 on June 26, 2009

- Submitted by cipu on June 25, 2009

Review #19: JUN 05 Afraid I have to agree with #18. This should be a rare delight but instead is a rather ho-hum smoke in both flavors and aromas. Nice looking though. Beyond green wood and citrus notes, the immature tannics mask any other enjoyable tastes on my palate. These sticks might be fantastic in 20 years, or they might be bland. I'm guessing these wont age well, due to apparent lack of underlying potent flavors - but only time will tell. - Submitted by cpubiz on April 14, 2009

Review #18: JUN 05 I just smoked my final Monte D from a box of 10, SOL JUN 05. This one, like the others from the box, was a disappointment. The cigar was beautifully made, burned well, and had a great draw and plenty of smoke, but lacked the full rich flavor of what I consider the best Montecristos, the Especial #1 and #2. There was a muted cocoa flavor, combined with the charred burnt espresso taste provided by the EL wrapper, which tends to dumb down the ELs and make them lose the special flavors of their marca. Although I have had several very good ELs, for the most part I think they are over rated based on hype. This was a very ordinary cigar. I would have preferred a Monte 4. - Submitted by Professor Twain on February 8, 2009

Review #17: --- 05 Oh what a wonderful experience! This beauty have rested since 20th of june 2008 in my humi. Today was a pefect day for a great smoke. Pre light it was very thight. I had made a punch in the cap. Som edark stable and chocolate was there. Opend a premium Cognac, Gönstets Extra, and went out o my small hideout. Tosted the end and light up. Smooth smoke but a bit to thoght draw. Thought it might be easier as i went on smoking but it didn´t. At the end i recalled that even if this smoke was a bit ti thight it mad me concentrate on my smoking. Good or bad. Although i would prefer a not so thight draw. First third was creamy. Not a lot of smoke but very smooth. I remember that i just blew up to heaven. Took a good sipp on my cognac and realised that this was a to storng spirit for this smoke. Second third: all taste disapered for a moment, nothing there. A few puffs later some breadtones came to me and the cream came back. A hint of truffle cream that turned in to some sweet cocoa with wood. Last third: more cream and some heavier cocoa/coffe with cedar. I was truly in heaven. I loved this smoke! A good end of the week or a perfect start for the coming week. I can only hope that my Edmundos can come close to this experiense. And I will go shopping for some more Monte D LE! Thank you Cuba for this smoke. - Submitted by poppe on January 25, 2009
