Review #32: AUG 01 Got this box for a fair price after much dealing... I want it to last a LONG time. Quintessential Montecristo taste. Not strong, even mild, before the second third, it can be scorching for the finish. What an evolution! But even though the taste can be strong, it is never harsh. This cigar is a wonderful expression of elegance, and of course an example of higher skills. Every stick in this box is perfectly straight and expertly wrapped with very delicate leaves. The draw, considering the abnormal length of the thing, is almost always correct. Very sweet, long and flavorful experience. Can you enjoy it till the nub without nausea? Then call yourself a true aficionado. I smoked 5 from this box and one of them was half plugged. Those jewels are worth around 100 CAN$ each, so this quality control mistake is unacceptable in my opinion. 9.5/10 instead of 10 as a consequence. - Submitted by Franz-Eric on January 16, 2009

- Submitted by cipu on December 22, 2008

Review #30: This is a very special cigar, if not for the size, then for the fantastic flavours. Starting mild, the A develops with such balance that it is easy to forget that by the end you're smoking a much more full cigar. Ever so gradually, the Monte A changes and that is what makes it so impressive. It takes you on a fantastic journey that you don't want to end. This is definitely Monte tobacco, but with the utmost refinement. Impeccabley rolled, the construction and draw are perfect. It is a marvel that a cigar of this size can be so perfect. I smoked this until my finger-tips burned. I didn't want it to go out. Not a hint of ammonia. This particular cigar was ready to be smoked. I highly recommend this cigar. It is perfect when you have the time, but it shouldn't be rushed. I smoked it fast, but it was only because it was so good; I couldn't get enough of it. I have not stopped thinking about this cigar. It is possibly the most memorable cigar I've had in a while. - Submitted by cookj1 on October 6, 2008

Review #29: This is the classic Monte - an iron hand in a velvet glove. Starting deceptively mildly, it becomes increasingly strong and complex in the first half hour. Construction and burn have never been less than impeccable in my experience over the last 7 years, and it's the only cigar I can think of which can be smoked down to the last inch without any foul flavours. It is one of my greatest smokes - what a pity my experience with other Montes has often been so disappointing. I hope they now have their quality control issues in hand. - Submitted by winterbee on September 30, 2008

Review #28: JAN 03 First of all: What a great cigar! Secondly: There is a certain kind of myth buzzing around this cigar. This myth says that the "A" is only for real man, only able to be smoked after big meals, for the big moments and a cigar to defeated by the tough and experienced smoker. The truth is that this cigar is very expensive! You can make a hype about something by simply making it very expensive. But the A isn't in need of getting attention because of a high price. It speaks for itself. I had one of the best smoking experiences with this cigar. Great earthy, woody tones in a creamy combination and not very complex or challenging to smoke. Perfect draw(!) and (very fast) combustion! (Only smoked about 90 minutes!) If a cigar has a gut burn it doesn't need your permanent attention. And that's what makes a relaxed smoke. By the way - you can get this cigar for the half of the high EU price (under 20€) in Switzerland. Then you'll forget the hype and just get the taste! Try it! - Submitted by Fidelito on May 16, 2008
