Review #33: Smoked this outside under the October stars, out east on Long Island. Probably the youngest cigar I have ever smoked: July 2007. (4 months) But great ROTT. Dark oily wrapper. Smelled like dark chocolate. It gave flavors of wet wood, and soft leather. The leather predominated as it was smoked. I got comments of "A+" from the person sitting next me, from the sidestream smoke. White ash on the good draw and straight burn. Cocoa came in the later third. Overally a good smoke, and will only improve. Although I like the sellecion #2 better, this is a winner. - Submitted by planetbetter on October 21, 2007

Review #32: I'm a regular with JL Seleccion No2. Last time my supplier was out of stock, I was tempted to buy a box of No1's. And I found it to be a very pleasant surprise. Once properly humidified, these babies can really deliver. Now I have reserved all of my tobacconist's stock of JL seleccion No1 jus for me. - Submitted by cgkrdc on June 13, 2007

Review #31: I was expecting a heavey cigar by the colour of the wrapper, but I was surprised that it was lighter than I expected. I had just smoked a Vegas Robaina Famosos and I thought I'd leave the JL Seleccion #1 for last because it was such a dark wrapper. In retrospect, I wish I had smoked the Juan Lopez first and the Vegas Robaina last. The Seleccion No 1 was not without its problems. It would open up, then tighten up...then open up, then tighten up again. The draw was excellent to begin with but after fighting with its inconsistencies I gave up in the last 1/3rd. The flavours were nice. ...some sweet chocolate notes. The smoke was good when it openned up, but clearly there were construction problems with this cigar. I'll give it another chance sometime. - Submitted by cookj1 on June 5, 2007

Review #30: Chocolate and chili mixed as only the best chefs can do. Power and body are at the top. Great Corona Gorda. - Submitted by spawn on May 16, 2007

Review #29: I had another of these beauties (from batch abr 01) last night with an Imperial XO Cognac. I could tell from the deep shiny madura wrapper that I was going to be in for a treat and this cigar didn't disappoint. One hour of pure subtle-complex exquisiteness followed. From the beginning to the end this was delightful, building to a crescendo of flavour that easily match any Cohiba I've ever smoked. If you're looking for a huge bang then this is not a cigar for you.........this is suavety exemplified and requires a fairly experienced palate to really appreciate. I have to give my thanks that I live near Spain and have really easy access to these gems. A treat !!!! - Submitted by bone_jure on May 7, 2007
