Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto Review:

Mild and earthy beginning. Evolves progressively without beeing agressive. A very pleasent cigar. Reminds us with the glory days of cuba (precastro small cigars like Rey Del Mundo Royal Serie No.3 ) Althought we can feel the ammonia of a freshly rolled cigar (july 04) the aromas developped are so round and aromatic that we can almost forget that it's a young cigar. The finish is outstanding. We cannot stop smoking the last part even if we had to burn our fingers. A great cigar, will be even greater in a 3-6 months time. One of the best new cigars of 2004, our favorite. It has nothing to do with an Epicure No.2; We only hope that in the future Habanos will keep a consistent blend of this small jewel. LA CAVA.

Review #107: A very different experience since the last one i had a while back; short, harsh and uneven burn marred an otherwise almost flawless small cigar. Lovely appearance and colour with just a hint of tooth to the wrapper and a gorgeous deep cedar nose. Once lit however the issues began; a nice easy draw only gave a harsh, ashy flavour and she hit a plug 10 minutes in, burnt uneven and then went out 3 times in succession. Frustrated by the poor taste and constant need for maintenance i put her down and lamented on what might have been. These are better than this but I am more frequently encountering production issues from the Island than ever before whilst some of the more reliable Dominican and Honduran houses are actually better in terms of construction but miss the distinctive Cuban palate. Pick your poison friend... - Submitted by Uncle on October 9, 2007

Review #106: One fantastic cigar that smiking it for me as a young smoker seems like a mystique experience, great to smoke it in autumn time - Submitted by marios on September 25, 2007

Review #105: I love these new Habanos productions. They're perfect for our fast paced modern times. The Petit Robusto is the perfect answer to your busy day. It'll fit in with any requirement. I had this over a quick lunch. It is impressive and will lift your mood. More labels need to make this format. Kudos to Habanos SA for making the Petit Robusto under the Hoyo label. - Submitted by cookj1 on September 25, 2007

Review #104: just smoked the first of a newly purchased box. boxing date MAY 07. while smoking this precious little cigar, i realised that the cubans truly make the best cigars. lovely aroma that arouses the senses whith a gentle taste of herbs and cedar. it is a seductive little gemstone, beautiful in all it's smallness with wonderful potential. simply wonderful. - Submitted by oblazt on September 21, 2007

Review #103: rich and tasteful altought mild. a very interesting smoke, would deserve a 9 if it wasn't for the very uneven burn in the second half. definetly recomended. - Submitted by zumbi on August 30, 2007
