Review #5: After reading several great reviews I was very excited about smoking my own recently acquired petit robustos. This so-called powerhouse was tickling my curiosity. Last Saturday it was party time, I could smoke my own cute Hoyo. After setting fire to this petit bastard, I took my first few puffs. The cigar tasted rather sharp especially to the nose. It felt like sanding the nasal bone. Luckily this feeling cleared away and a splendid aroma is all that was left. The aroma was strong however, very peppery and right in your face. An ideal smoke for the powerhouse lover, but that just ain’t me. The burn of the cigar was majestic, nice and equal. The draw as well was great, some resistance but not too much. All summed up it’s a great cigar, but not fully my style. - Submitted by bonkill on October 11, 2004

Review #4: I have to say this is the best 'new' cigar to come from Habanos in years. I'm not a huge fan of Hoyos, but this cigar is fantastic and reminds me of the DC rather than the Epi's. A wonderful quick smoke that's perfect for breakfast. I would not mind seeing a Petit Robusto in the Partagas and Bolivar marcas. - Submitted by Plume on October 7, 2004

Review #3: After reading several reviews on the HdM Petit Robusto, my expectations of this little fatty rose to extreme heights! This week I finally received them, a box dated may ’04. When you first look at this cigar, it just doesn’t seem right. A cigar that small, yet so thick! It’s thicker then a Churchill but just a little over half the size! After staring at and amazing myself about the size for a minute or two I was ready for a further inspection. The scent these babies spread is full and fresh, the wrapper has minor veins and a silky feel. Rolling it in my fingers learned they were a little dry, probably because of transport. A bit dry or not, I had to smoke one! I picked out the one that looked most fresh and a quick light later me and my Hoyo were on our way! The first 2-3 puffs were a little harsh in the back of my throat, but after that it immediately began delivering flavor … a lot of flavor! The first half of the cigar, which is only about 5cm, was great and took me a good 30 minutes to finish. How little did I knew of the troubles that were on their way. Up to that point the burn was without any trouble, but suddenly it became uneven. I tried to correct it, but it didn’t help. I felt this baby slipping through my fingers! Nothing I could do about it. I had to relight it 2 or 3 times and that obviously was killing for the flavor. The last 10-25 minutes were terrible and sadly they’re the ones that stay with you. Conclusion: my first experience with the HdM Petit Robusto wasn’t such a good one, despite all the great reviews there are about this cigar. I’m hoping this was just an incident: it was a little dried out, it needs some aging, this was just a bad one … Later this week I’ll try another. If that one is the same, I’ll keep them in my humidor for at least 6 months! - Submitted by Bolivar on October 7, 2004

Review #2: I got my box (code May 04) of these cigars today. My first impression was a good one. The cigar looks and smells great. It has a nice oily and dark wrapper (my girlfriend called it ‘cute’....is that a good thing?). The size is great also. I like the idea of a short robusto for the times a quick smoke is called for. Afcorse I could not help myself so I smoked one the same evening. Don’t let the size of this cigar fool you, it’s a BIG powerhouse! This cigar is fool of flavor from the first minute on. It is a very complex cigar. It’s easy to discover different kind of flavors. The draw is a bit on the light side but just enough to get a good resistance. The smoke lasted about 60-70 minutes. That’s surprising for such a small cigar. It really is a great cigar, up there with the big ones! Pick one up if you can, u won’t be dissapointed. (ps u will smoke this one untill you burn your fingers. You will hate yourself if you put it away sooner) - Submitted by Actionhost on October 5, 2004
