Review #6: OCT 02 I smoked my first from a box of 5 with box code VEL OCT 02. I generally agree with the excellent review by Hercule Poirot. The presentation is beautiful with each cigar in a wooden coffin. This is a mild, sweet, cigar, very pleasant, with woody and fruity flavors. Despite the immense length of this cigar it drew well throughout, and burned perfectly. However, I did not detect any marked change in the flavor over the two and a half hours it took me to smoke this cigar. This is a pleasant smoke, I think I might have my next one on a long drive, and I concur with Hercule that this one is perfect for the morning. - Submitted by Professor Twain on January 5, 2009

Review #5: I just bought some Particulares from a 2002 box. They come in a box of 5 and each one is dressed in a Coffin of its own. I have not tried them yet, I am leaving them for a special occasion! - Submitted by maalouly on July 7, 2008

Review #4: There has been a very limited post-EL production of these in 2002 in order to test the markets. They can still be found and do not bear the large oval anilla as shown here, but the old style "Le Hoyo" band as shown on 2003 Pirámides here. The second one I have tried now with 5,5 years of age on them has been a real treat as a prolonged, mild smoke. It was perfectly built, burnt razor-sharp and had an impeccable, perfectly regulating draw. Medium thick smoke was very creamy and showing a decent blueberry/ raisin sweetness from the start and throughout the entire cigar. Strength was definitely 1/5, very subtle, mild yet delicious. First third was mainly mineral (grey slate) character with an unmistakable "sweet like wine" bouquet typical of well matured cigars (and older Hoyos especially). Imagine dried blueberries and cream, that is about it. Second third began developing more toasty, oaky and herbal flavours while maintaining sweetness and velvety creaminess. Enjoyed smoking it down to two inches within almost three hours, where it ended abruptly cracking and tasting charred. Honestly, it had muted during the last ten minutes and left me a bit bored - but only at the very end, which did not seem very typical after all. However, that end could not diminish the pleasure the cigar had given me before. Decadent, decent, relaxing, pure finesse. It is definitely quite mild and might not appeal to most smokers of strong smokes, who might get bored. With all these marvelous smoking characteristics, I have to deem it mature, as it already showed "aethereal" components. I have repeatedly found this character in Hoyos with more than five years on them, and the 2004 EL has it quite concentrated. Unfortunaley, I do not see the Particulares lasting much longer than another five years... A great prolonged day-time smoke, I imagine it best as a morning cigar when having lots of time, ideally pairing it to (not overly acidic)(Rosé) Champagne... - Submitted by Hercule Poirot on May 29, 2008

Review #3: There's a very well known HK vendor who has them listed. - Submitted by Graham UK on March 8, 2008

Review #2: This Cigar has been re-released for the "Edicion Limitada 2000/2001". There's a very nice website where you can find detailed informations about cuban cigars: www. cubancigarwebsite.com Would be interesting, if one can still get this cigar ... - Submitted by Fidelito on March 6, 2008
