Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Gourmet Review:
Discontinued in 2002, this cigar has what some call the "experts" size, long and slim. With a peculiar creamy sweetness, Le Hoyo du Gourmet needs to be smoked slowly so that it does not overheat, what would give the cigar a different taste than it was meant to have.

Review #6: I recently got a JUN05 box of these from Hong Kong, and even though Canada Customs found them (resulting in a $729 tax bill), they still manage to be worth what I paid for them. Fantastic draw, straight burn, and wonderful development throughout the smoke. This cigar started with flavours of wood and citrus, then got a bit of sweet coffee and cream through the middle, before ending with intense flavours of fruit and earth. Review #5: I smoked my very first gourmet yesterday. I have to say that i was impressed. This cigar is an easy smoker, burns equally and i can easily enjoy it during a lunch break. because its not big. Currently this is the smallest size that i have in my humidor and i can say that amongst my other "monsters"( lusitanias, diademas, salomones, churchils) it stands pretty well!!! - Submitted by kouzman on May 12, 2006
Review #4: This size is probably not one which many visit. Its narrow ring gauge I suppose is not popular in this day and age of fat cigars. This stick is actually a gem of a piece and if you are on a search for something to excite your palatte then give this one a go. I would probably have never tried one of these if it wasn't for a well respected London cigar merchant passing one out of his humidor to me one day. It was from a cabinet buried deep and had a good 10 years age on it. If there was ever an example of how ageing can improve some cigars this was it! the strength was medium bodied and the flavour was all vanilla, chocolate, cocao beans, and coffee, and absolutely intoxicating...especially as the flavours kept taking my palatte by suprise. I can only describe it as being spoon fed big dollops of rich and subtle flavours all intermingled, and all evolving in a perfect way. In fact the flavours were so intoxicating that I experienced what I would call a "Brain rush" of taste-bud excitement. I have smoked many cigars of different shapes and sizes from Cuba, and this one ranks up there at the top! Bear in mind that I am describing a 10 year old stick. On the strenght of this I purchased a cabinet with 2 years age on it some time later and I can see where it would be in 8 years time. Unfortunately I haven't got the money, space, time, or patience, to allow this cabinet to sit for that long and have smoked about half of it by now. The strength and flavour is within the same profile however a little rough and edgy which I like anyway. Very little problems with construction and burn and still a great smoke especially outdoors as they burn quite slowly and stay lit without too much chugging. The rich flavour and smell is still easily distinguishable in the cool spring breeze and you are left with a pleasant chocolately aftertaste on the palatte. Not huge volumes of smoke but enough and it smokes easily. A real treat for a summer's day. - Submitted by Sean Potter on April 21, 2006
Review #3: I love the size of this cigar. The long, slow tasting glass of cigars. I just hate smoking it. I've had two now. Unlit they remind me of cigarillos. They smoke dry, harsh and bitter.
