Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Review:
Completely hand-made with tobacco leaves coming from Vuelta Abajo, this Robusto cigar, with excellent burn, is the last product from Hoyo de Monterrey. With a smooth strength, it has an intense tobacco taste, blended with cocoa, cinnamon and dried fruits.

Review #106: I spent most of this cigar trying to figure out the flavours. I've never had a cigar like this, and it really isn't for my palate. I definitely noticed fruit (lots of citrus) and cinnamon. I couldn't figure out how a cigar could have these flavours. Before I began this review I quickly read cigars-review.org's review and they have the same flavours. My palate is taking a sigh of relief now! The construction was excellent with this cigar. ...very nice draw. There were slight burn problems, but nothing major. I found the wrapper wasn't burning as fast as the filler. Unusual because I generally find the wrapper burns faster than the filler if there are burn issues. I had to set this cigar down for two minutes. When I resumed smoking it, the flavours were very sour and acidic (not a pleasant cigar flavour). The HdM band is one of the nicest cigar bands. Unfortunately the appearance doesn't gain enough points from the flavour's downfalls to give it a great score, and ultimately this is a disappointing cigar. Review #105:  Lit up one of these yesterday on a warm summer evening, the first thing I give credit too is that ven while there was a swift breeze blowing outside this did little to affect the even burn, something I don't find too often. The first third of this cigar was pure cocoa, I could taste it from the first puffs, the second third for me was a mix of pepper and maybe some cinammon notes. The draw on this cigar was just a little bit too open, I feel a little more resistance would have been better. This was definitely one of the tastiest robustos i've ever had, yet in the end there is slight lacking of something that still makes the cohiba robusto come out on top. - Submitted by Gillette on June 27, 2007
Review #104: lots of good competition in the robusto size. If price isnt a concern Cohiba the best, this second. But when you factor price in this is number 1 in my book.Medium bodied,not as strong as sd#4, or cobiba, not as mild as RASS.Perfect burn, I tasted predominately cocoa and earthy tones. Just got another box from C of H, hopefully can let them sit for a while, but if not still a great smoke. Review #102: Upon first lighting, the initial puffs brought forth a strong and sweet burst of tangy tobacco flavors. Soon afterward, the patented rich, damp earthy undertone settled in, where it remained for the length of the cigar. The smoke over the first half of the cigar was rich and creamy and round in the mouth, with a touch of a sweet note, maybe cinnamon, and a vegetal note that I had noticed in the past. I find it a quite intriguing and positive thing, but I could see if some don't. About the halfway point it started to gather some momentum and spicyness. Notes of pepper and woody cedar made there way forward over the ever present earthiness, and built to a mostly peppery finish. This cigar is not a powerhouse, I would say it it firmly medium bodied and medium in strength. This in no way means that it lacks in flavor. - Submitted by ColbyPants on May 31, 2007
