Hoyo de Monterrey Coronations Review:

Even when these cigars are quite young, their taste is smooth and mild, but esentially typical "hoyo" taste. The recommended ageing for them is at least 2 years. Strength 2/5.

Review #25: shit sigar, had it two times, no taste, like sucking air. do not buy it, it's really terrible. - Submitted by giņ on February 24, 2009

Review #24: AUG 05 Recently bought two boxes of 10 dated 2005 and 2004 respectively. Tried several from each box, the 2005's for me had a slight edge over the 2004's (just a little livelier). The wrappers look a little 'rustic', and the construction seemed just a little loose, although the draw was fine with plenty of smoke, maybe even a bit too much! Distinctly 'Hoyo' flavour in every respect, but with the 2004's these seemed to have retreated slightly. No spectacular complexity, but a fairly mild enjoyable cigar that ticked all the right boxes in a simple, no nonsense way. Great value, but maybe at their best between 2-3 years old. - Submitted by crippin on February 7, 2009

- Submitted by cipu on December 9, 2008

Review #22: I was reluctant to try this cigar as I generally don't go for less-expensive Cubans, and especially shy away from them if they're in tubes. Recently, I have decided to explore this end of the market and I had an opportunity to smoke a Coronation last night. I was shocked at how good it was. This cigar has your standard Cuban flavours but given the price, the value/price ratio is exceptional. I agree with reviewer #20; as I smoked this last night there were times when I thought of Jose L. Piedra. It is somewhat reminiscient. However, the Coronation has much more balance and is hand rolled versus machine made. This has typicl Hoyo flavours. Think leather and earth, with a slight hint of spice which gives the cigar a nice Cuban twang. Good burn, good draw, and excellent burn. I really have nothing bad to say about this cigar and only praise given its excellent value. The Coronation grew in strength right until the end. I nubbed this cigar until it fell out of my fingertips. I will definitely be revisiting this cigar soon. - Submitted by cookj1 on November 19, 2008

Review #21: NOV 07 Construction is excellent and the smell of the leaves is great. The cigar lit very easily with excellent draw. Taste was a different story... This is the third cigar from the same box and it still fails to convince me. Flavour was harsh and overpowering leaning towards ammonia, leaving a very pungent aftertaste. Last third was ridiculously strong. I am a slow smoker, but these sticks burn hot. Tons of smoke, but perhaps they need more ageing to mellow and develop more complex flavours. - Submitted by aivandic on October 21, 2008
