Review #26: MAY 07 I received a box about a month ago and smoked one immediately upon arrival (I can never help myself!), but have been holding back reviewing it until I had a chance to smoke another after a few weeks in the humidor. First of all, this is really quite a good (might I even say underrated?) cigar. Its aroma is intoxicating and complex, it looks exquisite with dark oily brown wrappers and the construction is absolutely perfect. However, I see that it has mixed reviews, and I'm not entirely surprised, as it has an unusual flavor and depth that in my experience is quite different from the Hoyo Epicures and double corona. Luckily for me, I’m not a big fan of most Hoyo cigars, as I find them too light. Otherwise I may have been very disappointed with this experience! Where the Epicures are fairly straightforward, flowery, delicate and refined, this thing is a monster. It hits you right out of the gate with thick, rich smoke and a bizarre, salty core / aftertaste that so many in these pages have called out. I detected other subtleties (most pronounced at this point would be “leather”) that I hope will come out over time, but with about 13 months of age since it was rolled, this is a powerful, complex cigar. I enjoy powerful cigars, and enjoyed this immensely. I think it just needs a warning label to this effect, as it is VERY different from its siblings, and is perhaps a bit misunderstood for this reason. Hoyo smokers, approach with caution! - Submitted by Goldenberg on July 8, 2008

Review #25: I was disappointed in my box of these. The Hoya "Whites" have long been touted as one of the greatest smokes in the world. I found them "iffy". Uneven burns, difficult draw, Waaayyyy milder than I expected. Just an UNDERwhelming experience. Sad to say. Cheers. SM. - Submitted by Slipperman on July 6, 2008

Review #24: Without even reading the top review for the Hoyo Churchill my notes for this cigar stated, "one of the saltiest cigars I've had." I am glad that my pallette is detecting these nuances. I likened this churchill to salty peanuts. This cigar took over an hour and a half to smoke. It wasn't the most enjoyable but it was memorable for its saltiness. I hadn't experienced that before. This cigar got hot in the last 1/3rd. ...very surprising considering I was smoking this slowly. This was a nice way to celebrate the first day of summer. I enjoyed it as the sun set. As a final note, some of the flavours were very difficult to classify and so I didn't waste time trying to discriminate between the flavours. ...better to just enjoy what is! - Submitted by cookj1 on June 23, 2008

Review #23: I Smoked one of these about a year ago and it was great. I Smoked anther with my friend and threw it away it was so gross. same exact reasons that worjor said - Submitted by 10yearoldcigarsmoker on May 3, 2008

Review #22: Friend of mine gave me a single of one of these and "Wow" what a great cigar. Loved the sweet & salty taste. Excellent burn and draw. Only HDM I have smoked, not my favorite size though. Does anyone know of a smaller size HDM that has the similar salty & sweet taste? - Submitted by chrismez on March 9, 2008
