Review #36: JAN 08 Excellent cigar. Stronger flavors than double corona. Not as smooth or creamy. More woody, leathery, with spicy, salty aftertaste.. Like DC better, but still one of favorite Churchills. - Submitted by binky on July 13, 2011


Review #35: APR 08 Good morning gentlemen. Να ένα πούρο που αντίθετα από άλλα premium των current global brands, και όχι μόνο, έχει γίνει πολύ καλύτερο από αυτό που ήταν παλαιότερα. Ένα Churchill - ανατροπή, αρκετά διαφορετικό προς τα πάνω, το καλύτερο hoyo που έκανα εδώ και αρκετό καιρό. Λες και η αλλαγή από το παλιό δαχτυλίδι, αυτό των double coronas στο τρέχον, με κάποιο μαγικό τρόπο το μεταμόρφωσε από κάτι μέτριο και αδιάφορο, σχεδόν παρακατιανό σε σχέση με τα άλλα Churchills, σε κάτι εξαιρετικό και υπέροχο. Ένα άναμμα, τράβηγμα γεμάτο αλλά να κρατάει, στάχτη λεπίδα, σώμα εύρωστο και ζουμερό, γλυκό, βελούδινο και ψημένο flavour, μου θύμισε λίγο des dieux, απίστευτο για δυόμισι ετών πούρο. Μάλιστα, 4-5 πούρα είχανε πιάσει και λίγο από εκείνη τη λευκή πούδρα, τη λαίδη-ανατριχίλα. Μια απόλυτη μεταμόρφωση λοιπόν, και πολλά γκολ από τη hoyo, είχε δίκιο ο συχωρεμένος Don Alejandro που συχνά παίνευε τόσο τη brand. Κάτι σαν vintage, στα όρια του κλασικού. Review #34: --- 00 I purchased 2 boxes of these. One box is from 2000 & the other from 2001. These are my son's birthday cigars. I smoked one when he was born and only smoke one a year around his birthday. I have not had a problem with construction yet. So far I have only smoked 2 of the 2000's and 1 of the 01's. There was a great deal on them when I got them. You may have seen it. It was the kind of deal that happens every thousand years or so. Anyways both years’ cigar had medium to medium high strength. They were very woody. The 2000 also had a very strong salty after taste that took some getting used to. I now look forward too and enjoy but could see how some might not enjoy this flavor. These are nothing like the Hoyo DC that I have smoked. Totally different profile. - Submitted by kp_church on December 31, 2009


Review #33: AUG 01 Hoyo De Monterrey Churchills, Dress Box-25, REC AGO 01. These look great in the box, wrappers medium-brown, smooth and shiny with oils, few very small veins. They have a damp-earth and old-leather aroma. This is my first experience with this model - tested this one immediately upon receipt. I enjoy Hoyo DC and Epi 2. Right away, the Churchill seems stronger than either in the woods and tangy peppers. Strength well into the medium range. Less sweet than the DC. From the beginning, substantial dark woods, cedar, peat, some olive notes, spicy pepper finish. Excellent, well-aged tobacco flavors. Develops powerful kick as smoked, becoming a head-banger in the final third - not harsh, just strong! Excessive puffing quickly overheats this cigar, reducing the tastes. The draw and smoke volume are very good. An even burn with silver ash, darker rings, holding to about an inch. Sorry to hear about your bad experiences #32 (ericbmf), hope the rest are good. For #29 (nnjlon2), I haven't had trouble with 2001 vintages, in general. But I don't much care for most of 1999 product. I liked this cigar a lot. Review #32: JUN 01 Got 2 boxes x 25, june01. Tried one out of the box and was very disappointed. Tried more after 3 months in a humidor not much improvement. Not a good cigar at all. Uneven burn, hard draw. While rich in flavor, not too enjoyable. Needs to be worked on to be enjoyed. There are by far much better Churchills. - Submitted by ericbmf on March 15, 2009
