Review #13: Just smoked another one from a box of Corona Majors from 1972, my father has 10 boxes in his humidor at his house.
He purchased these in spain back in 1972 when he was there on business. The flavors and aromas are unbelievable, if they were not intended to be a strong cigar aging has changed that idea. The first flavors of very very stong and well aged tobaccos are you first sign that this will be a joy. There is an unidentified saltiness, that adds so much to the over all flavor. That classic musty aroma and flavor are predominant in the first puff. Only a well aged upmann can produce. The layer of bloom is unbelievable as the oils start to run away from the hot ash, you can actually see the oils running away from the hot ash. The aromas are unbelievable, this is as close to perfection that you can get.
Its hard to believe my father only paid 24.00 USD per box in 1972 for each box. Classic HUPMANN times 100 - Submitted by bigyesta on January 31, 2005
Review #12: Just tried my first corona major in a few years. this one ECA NOV 02, what a classic, just like a smaller thinner magnum 46. Classic cuban twang as well as espresso, chocolate, vanilla and black cherry.Just ordered 2 more boxes - Submitted by BIGYESTA on January 11, 2005
Review #11: Maybe I got a bad box, but most were very difficult to impossible to get a decent draw. The few that provided a good draw were great. Good flavor, but a pain to smoke. - Submitted by cigarlover on November 18, 2004
Review #10: Nice feel to the touch. Smooth and at the same time oily. Smells nice before lit. Not very strong flavors, earthy at the beginning, a hint of coccoa in the middle, gets spicy afterwards. Leaves a spicy feel on the tongue. The draw was a little difficult in the middle, the ash was firm, never had to relit it. Thats something I defenitely approve in a cigar. In general a mild cigar for relaxed, calm afternoons.
Defenitely a habano, but a little too mild for my taste. - Submitted by Dimitris in Athens on November 7, 2004
Review #9: Waw. Tough. A "H.Upmann' stronger than usual. A complicated smoke, anyway. Certainly, it needs some ageing, but the flavor has a lot of complexity; it's earthy, toasty and sometimes, spicy (I've noticed some pepper and beans undertones). The balance is basicly good, but my HU Corona Major was too "green". The draw was a little loose, but it burnt even and it didn't become particularly hot, as preview reviews noticed. Didn't feel like a powerhouse neither, maybe because I like full flavor smokes. - Submitted by Razvan Voncu on August 11, 2004
