I can understand why this cigar exists and will continue to sell at the rate is has been selling since its introduction a few years ago. It represents good revenue for Cuba driven by Ignorance and Inexperience. This cigar is meant for those who will purchase the first or the occasional (once in a blue moon) cigar, those who are unlikely to purchase another cigar for a few years, those who want to offer a cuban stick as a gift, those who have no idea what they buy but will chose the package and price over the content, those who don't bother asking for advice or don't take it when it's given to them. There are many of these folks in the world and believe it or not, the Guantanamera brand enjoys a huge success due to this fact. Guantanamera (the Cristales especially) is in a world of its own. It's appealing to the eye of the non-connoisseur and will never overwhelm anyone who lights a cigar for the first time. However, it inevitably fails at creating new afficionados because it will leave almost everyone unimpressed. If a Cristales would have been my first cuban cigar, I probably would not have explored any further. The Guantanamera brand does precisely what it was designed for and I wouldn't want it to be any different. I thank Cuba's authorities for that. If they wanted to, they could make, market and export a truly cheap cigar far, far better than any Guantanamera. - Submitted by SmokeRings on February 19, 2009

This is got to be one of THE worst cigars ever, right down to the cheap plastic package. I find it hilarious how many people bring these back from Cuba thinking they got a deal. Even if you are just starting out on cigars, try a Romeo & Julieta No. 2 instead of this. Lastly, I find most people who smoke these are just too cheap to buy a decent cigar, even for ten bucks, you can find much better. - Submitted by cigar are good on February 13, 2009
