I smoked a Cosacos this week and enjoyed it so much I thought I'd try a No.1. I was very impressed. This has got to be the best line within the Fonseca brand. The No.1 I smoked had some good age on it and you could tell because it had incredible balance. A slight sweetness to it, but perfectly balanced with good Cuban flavours like earth, coffee, and cedar too. The was a slight spice to it which I often refer to as Cuban twang. The No.1 surprised me because I don't generally think of the Fonseca brand as a premium Cuban, however after smoking this it fits in well. The construction, draw, and burn were all spot on. Just recieved my box of Fonseca No.1 today. Opened the box and took the paper off and found a very nicely constructed little cigar. Beautiful oily dark wrapper.A little darker than most Cubans. I clipped the cap and took a draw. The draw was just right. Toasted the end and then light it up. First thing I noticed was a lot of smoke. "I like that" Then the aroma. It smelled like fresh cooked coffee beans but very mild. After about an inch it started to pick up a little with some honey and nut flavors but still very mild. After the half way mark the flavors didn't change much but did start to get a hint of coffee. Still it was very mild. I have nothing bad to say about this smoke. The burn was even and it never got hot. The ash fell off about half way. I would say this a great morning cigar with a good cup of coffee. Also great for the beginner.
