To reviewer No. 100...if you got a box of D4's that were that horrible, please get your money back from your dealer and give it one more chance! Your dealer somehow got a very bad box, and will be glad you sent it back, or whatever his policies are. IMHO, this really is an outstanding cigar, period, but it's also a top 3 best Robustos as well...that frequently goes head-to-head with others like Cohiba, RASS, Bolivar Royal Coronas, etc., and regularly comes out ahead. I have a total of four boxes right now in my humidor, 3 each have about 19-20 sticks each, and 1 is full...I gotta say, I open so many at once just to experience the consistancy of this near-perfect smoke! Sorry for the mildly weird and probably paranoid defense of the smoke, lol, but I really do hope you give them a chance. It'll be good news, promise! - Submitted by dlctwice on April 14, 2006

To reviewer #100. I have purcased 4 boxes of D's in the past two years and have not had the problem you described. Howver, on other smokes like the punch royal selection 12 and the Romeo & Julieta LE 2004 I have had many plugged smokes. For the price of Cuban cigars this should not be happening and is very frustrating my sympathy. I know these are rich sumptuous well made smokes that go well with a good evening meal and some robust red wine, and I have smoked a few gooduns in the past, BUT.....I purchased a box from a reputable merchant in 2005, (Box code AVD JUL05) and they were absolutely awful! nearly all 25 were packed as tight as a brick. Despite keeping them properly humidified most were just rock hard from overfilling (not dry) and so they did not combust. I did find about 5 that when cut had an excellent draw, however when lit produced hardly any smoke and the taste was sour and harsh, even acrid, and never got any better! I think I finished one stick and it was OK. I even tried letting some dry out from 70% RH yet the combustion didn't get any better so it can't have been the storage. The tobacco just tasted raw. The wrappers were a beautiful rich golden brown color but what was inside remains a mystery to me! what happened to the improved quality controls in Cuban cigar factories?!! All this suggests to me that the roller just used the wrong leaves, and put too much of one leaf or too little of another in there; perhaps it was just what was left at the end of a batch/day, I don't know, but in the end I just tossed the last 8 or so I had, because I was fed up with trying to find a good smoke and ending up with a headache and destroyed palette. I wonder if anyone else out there may have had a similar experience? and please...these were not fakes! - Submitted by Sean Potter on April 12, 2006

Oh baby ! What a smoke. I got a box of these from Switzerland about 18 months ago, at that time they was pretty young and green. I showed great restraint in leaving them alone until yesterday. Unbelievable is all I can say. Such a full bodied smoke - yet so creamy !!! Smoked right down to the nub. What a difference.
