Just broke a 98 Box, made in Francisco Pérez Germán Factory. To date, I have only smoked two churchills in my life (didn't have the money or the time before), and the first one was a Romeo y Julieta Churchill en tubo, which was simply fantastic, but comparing both cigars, I would say that the Bolivar is uncomparably better. The construction is beautiful and perfectly done, the flavors start in a honey-chocolate-french vainilla profile, with the best aromas available from Cuba (totally agree with Coolburn), and slowly evolve to a more earthy "bolivar-y" taste, never getting harsh, and burning laser straight, totally balanced overall. If there are any better cigars, I just can't imagine how can they be better than this. - Submitted by Estrella on November 10, 2004

Mine came from a dress box of '98 - terrific cigar. Great burn, perfect construction. The torceador that rolled this piece was definitely on a great day out - he gave this particular smoke all he could possibly give. Aromas interchanged with variations from cocoa to chocolate, then to vanilla, finally finishing with nutmeg and white pepper. I suspect another year in an undisturbed environment should do wonders to this cigar. All time classic! - Submitted by Babek on October 24, 2004

Have several cabinets from OSU ABR 01, the flavors and aromas are some what different between the cabinets. The wrappers are flawless dark chocolate with a perfect cap and foot. The flavors packed full of the unmistakable bolivar flavor, a unique one of a kind taste. The Honduran Bolivar Fuerte are a real treat, they to have a unique one of a kind taste. However for my money the cubans are the way to go, especially if you can get the cabinets or boxes from the 01 production runs. Be wary of buying the cabinets from the last 6 months of 02 they all were rolled to tightly and have draw problems, i had to send back all 6 cabinets that i purchased and waited to get the 01 production runs. - Submitted by big yesta on September 29, 2004

A beautiful cabinet of these has been my most recent purchase. Right out of the box these were perhaps the best smelling cigars I have ever seen. Excellent aroma. These must be considered the hidden gem of the cigar world. Many people concentrate on RyJ,Hoyo,and other churchills. But I have rarely heard talk of this cigar. Well it is their loss because these are my favorite churchill of all. Rich and flavorful with that irresistible Boli taste. Wow!! I've smoked several hundred cigars in my time, but I've never come accross anything like this! Right from the beginning you know it's bolivar with that unique flavour; bold and musty, yet still refined. From the first puff you understand why Bolivar is said to be the strongest flavoured brand. The smoke, though, is thin and wiry. The flavours; leather, rough earth, sandy, gritty almost, and extremely strong. I was fully expecting to feel quite nautious (nicotine) after this cigar, enjoying it too much to put down, however the strenght of flavour was not an indication of nicotine content. At the end I found the flavour so strong I had to stop wafting it in the back of the throat to stop the gag reflex! An enjoyable experience, even if the large Bolivar's are just not my flavour. However, reading the other comments here I suspect Bolivar is still suffering from a lack of consistency. - Submitted by peanutaxis on August 31, 2004
